    Is there a card that you would recommend? Should I stay away from ATI altogether?

    Ok, likely the card… But again, make sure you can return the one you are getting.

    Yes, go with NVidia, and if you are thinking about upgrading to CS5 in the near future, get one that supports the new Mercury Playback Engine. https://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/performance/

    Of course, even the cheapest of these cards isn’t cheap.

    And in the end, except for MPE support and some H.264 encoding speed improvement, most Nvidia cards above $100.00 will do fine for Premiere alone.
