  • Confusion over live SDI op from 350

I need to do some live SD (prores422) capture from a Sony PDW350.

Sony tech support tell me that this camera outputs SD SDI from the HD SDI connector on the rear but when I connect up to my IoHD it reports a 1080i25 signal. Unfortuneatly I don’t have an SDI monitor available to check this.

The camera is set to 50i DVcam mode and the preview is stretched in teh FCS log and capture window. Changing the 350’s ‘aspect ratio(DV) between 4:3 and 16:9 doesn’t make any difference.

What I’s really like is 4:3 SD capture but either working properly would do.

Any ideas as to what’s happening here?

    Thanks in advance.

The 350 can NOT output SD SDI it can only output HDSDI. The newer model PDW-F355 does have the ability to output SD SDI.

Interesting Scot, that’s what I thought which is why I called Sony. I did notice the SD SDI spec on the 355.

I wonder what comes out of the HDSDI bnc when the 350 is in SD mode, there’s certainly a signal as my IoHD recognises something. It registers 1080i50 but displays that in red whereas a genuine 1080 signal is black.
