  • Confused about Magix Vegas vs Vegas Creative Software?

Posted by Stephen Crye on January 9, 2017 at 1:44 am

When I launched Vegas Pro 12 tonight I received this offer:

    https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/newsletter/special-offer/vegas-pro-14/new-features/

(BTW I don’t use SVP 13 because it crashes constantly)

I’m very confused. I thought Sony Creative had sold all the rights to Magix? So what’s up with this offer from “Vegas Creative?” Is this Magix Vegas or something else? Is Magix using the Vegas Creative domain?

    Help …

If you look right at the bottom of that page, you’ll notice the MAGIX comment.

Yea, MAGIX seems to have substituted Sony with VEGAS because their site is called https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com and if you look at where the software gets installed, it use to be in a folder called /Sony/Vegas Pro 13.0 but now it’s in a folder called /VEGAS/VEGAS Pro 14.0 (not MAGIX as you might expect and quite redundant) so they don’t seem to want to brand the software as being from MAGIX at all.

I guess they didn’t want to confuse their existing video software customers?
