Conforming 720p59.94 Canon footage for a clean Slo-Mo
So I’ve got some 720p59.94 footage from a 7D. I’ve log and transfered it ProRes 422 in FCP. Question is, should I edit in 23.98 or 29.97? Because we are going to be using some clips in slo-mo. In which case we’ll use Cinema Tools to conform to 23.98 or 29.97.
Should I edit in 29.97. Will FCP just remove the appropriate frames from the 59.94 material in a 29.97 timeline? Will this then make the CT conformed slo-mo media playback along side the regular speed 59.94 material in the 29.97 timeline?
Or will this work in 23.98 as well, because they’re all compatible?
Just not sure if the regular 59.94 material can be edited in a 23.98 or 29.97 sequence and still look normal without changing the frame rate outside of FCP via Compressor. Also, I believe this is true 59.94p material not, 23.98 material shot in a 59.94 cadence, like DVCProHD can not in Native mode on P2, then you can remove duplicate frames for a 23.98 edit. The footage has new, clean frames every step through with no dup frames.
Sorry this post is a mess, but its just so confusing dealing with frame rates and wanting really good slo-mo material that CT can give by conforming the 59.94 clips to 23.98 or 29.97. Just not sure how to edit the regular speed and slo-mo material together. ughhh
