Thanks for the info, yes a confdorm has different issue than editing does. and yes the workflow is convoluted because of the NTSC Legacy, unfortunately.
.[chris] “I am also interested in the idea of using proxies.. I have used this in AAE and works really well. I am wondering if FCP has a simular function.”
The Kona 3 board allows you to directly convert the DPX files to any format you choose at the same time you are capturing from telecine.
The board can capture the DPX files, while simultaneously converting the video stream to 1080, 720, and even DV at the same time, and all linked to the master DPX content you captured.

Thanks so much for the good info.Since our DPX files are usually captured off 35m by a Spirt or Northlight Scanner, they are files on our drives. Could I point to these files while I import and have proxies made?
How fast do you think I could make 320×240 proxies from these files?
Thanks so much and have a great weekend!
Chris
