Conform problem
Posted by Alex Gat on December 18, 2020 at 4:55 pmHello there,
I have been working on long clip making multiples cuts. A friend of mine has used the same clip to insert some graphics so when finished I wanted to Replace Selected clip from the Media tab with the one from my friend. Obviously, it did not work, all my cut started from timestamp 0:0:0:0.
The video has audio but I removed it in my timeline, might it be the cause of the problem ?Else I don’t see what I am doing wrong.
Thanks for your input.

December 18, 2020 at 5:16 pmOk, I have found my error.
The TC of the clip from my friend started at 01: while mine started at 00:
So here is what I have tried (without success).
I have replace the clip from the media tab and then in the attribute, I have change the TC back to 00:.
It actually works for around 2/3 of my cuts but not all of them. Any idea why and if not how can I do this ? Thanks

December 18, 2020 at 5:30 pmOne possibility (long shot) is that occasionally a clip won’t re-link if there is a duration discrepancy — you ask how? The only TC that Resolve takes into account is the STARTING count, and the rest is extrapolated from the frame rate. Otherwise your strategy of re-establishing the 01: hour is the orthodox method of fixing this.
Something to try would be to attempt to “Force” the Relink by selecting the new clip in the Media bin, then right-click on the offline segment and opt to force conform with the selected media.
It may generate an error code or warning, and then you will have another clue.

December 18, 2020 at 5:35 pmI believe the fastest way to replace a clip in your timeline with a clip from your media pool, is to use the the Conform Lock with media pool clip function. If the clip is the same length (same IN and OUT than the clip in your timeline), your TC does not matter.
In the EDIT page, select the new clip in the Media pool panel.
In your timeline, CTRL+mouse click on the clip that needs to be replaced, and select in the local pop up menu Conform Lock with media pool clip.
Now the clip in the timeline should be replaced with the clip in the media pool.

December 18, 2020 at 5:50 pmJoseph and David thank you.
I have tried your method David but it does not replace anything.
Edit: actually, it works when selecting one media at a time but not with all the clips selected. I guess this is a (long) way.
As for why certain clips do not conform, it appears that all cut after 01:00… are properly replaced but the ones below 01:00 do not.

December 18, 2020 at 6:08 pmWhile Replacing my clip one by one with your method David, I realize than one clip was linked with another. Here is why the first method might have not worked. I keep doing your method thought, even if I would have loved to at least have a shortcut for the clip>Replace With Media Clip 🙂

Keyboard customization is your friend… it is located under the DaVinci Resolve menu in the menu bar… it should make things a little faster…?
