    Hey guys,

    Happy St. Pats!

trying to get a little weekend work done and wanted to ask- I have two FCP workstations in my office–

the first is a G5 PowerPc based dual 1.8 computer housed with a burley hotswappable media drive system acquired from macgurus. Runs Mac OSX 10.4.9 and The latest FCP 5 Studio.

the second is an Imac 17″ with superdrive Intel core duo 1.83 also running Mac OSX 10.4.9 and The latest FCP 5 Studio. I have a single hotswap drive enclosure like the other that connects to this computer via firewire.

The problem? No FCP project I have will open in the imac. I keep getting Error 41. I’ve tried trashing preferences, but no luck. I’ve also tried opening earlier autosaves and that doesn’t work. Any project created in the G5 won’t open in the imac. Is this a pre/intel-post/intel issue? Something else?

    thanks for any advice.

Rick so you have met Yesterday Error 41 took a bite out of me also..

I was trying to open an edit from last week for final client changes and it would not open. Previous edit Projects would open but not last weeks. I was running a G4 dual with OS and FCP and QT with everything updated as of 4 weeks ago. Friday morning, Software Update said I needed to update a few apps.. I remember one of the apps being a security patch, and a couple others…… Whats the problem I said, the computer has been running like a charm, everything has been current so this little update won’t hurt…… as I heard Wally screaming in my ear, never do it before the project is delivered,,, I pressed the button,,, hey I need a little more time for coffee and to finish the morning paper…….

And now the dreaded Trashing prefs did not help…. anybody got an idea…. short of turning into a caffine monster as I stay up redoing everything….. (About 15 hours lost)

Have you tried exporting an XML of the edit and opening the XML on the other system?
