  Configuring RAID on a Mac PowerMac G5

  I have a PowerMac G5 2.3 GHz configured with Mac OSX Leopard 10.5.5, two external WD My Studio 750 GB FW drives.

  The issue I have is that I installed the 2 WD external drives to firewire 800 port on PowerMac and used the disk utility to configure them as RAID0.

  When I ran the Kona LS System test, the Disk/Write for a single drive – Write: 55.5 / Read: 59.7

  When I configured them as RAID0 (Striped), RAID Block Size: 128k – the read/write test were the same.

  What would be the best way to optimize this setup. Should I have purchase a FW card with 2 or 3 FW 800 ports.

  BTW: These drives do have esata.
