I am considering upgrading to Vegas 10 and I am looking at getting a new computer as well. I have a had a problem with mine freezing while editting HD in V8. I am wondering, because of budget, what the minimum PC requirments would be very editting in V10 HD footage from JVC-GYHD100U? I prefer HD computers. I am guessing the question has been asked however I could not find it in the threads.

I assume you mean HP computers. The HP Z series Workstations are what you want. Obviously the Z800 Workstation would be my first choice but get the best one you can afford. You want at least an Intel Quad Core with 8GB of memory and two hard drives. Make sure that you buy a workstation and not a home computer.

I agree. I bought an HP ‘home’ computer, and burned out the motherboard in about 12 months…sigh.. they don’t put 600-800 watt power supplies in the home machines, and believe me, you are going to need it for heads down video work. High end graphics cards, estata drives, etc. will all pull power down. Just wear plastic gloves when you go into the box so you eliminate your static…and ground yourself while you are at it.

Thank you, I am looking at the Workstations now. Yes I did mean HP, I am curious if this configuration would be acceptable:Pavilion Desktop / AMD Phenom™ II Six-Core Processor / 8GB Memory / 1TB Hard Drive
1TB Serial ATA hard drive (7200 rpm)
    For fast read/write times.
    ATI Radeon HD 5570 graphics
Feature up to 1GB DDR3 dedicated video memory for lush images with stunning detail. HDMI and DVI outputs for flexible connectivity options.
The workstations look great however I am hoping to avoid spending that much if I can help it. Is there a computer fairy anywhere????

Should work just fine, however fairies are busy elsewhere just now.

Thanks so much for all of the feedback. It is hard trying to do what I love and having to work full time to support it, add to that I am single mom who has a 14 year old every other week to add to my chaos. When I have sites like this to tap into the wealth of experience and knowledge that all of you have it saves my behind…

Hi Suzanne, i have just about the same system configuration with the addition that I have a second H.D. 1T. So far no problems, although I don’t make full lengh videos yet, mine videos are usually 30 min or less. I wanted to keep my system around 1,000 dollars, mine was 1,200 and included 2 monitors.

    my box is: OS=windows 7/64bit, CPU=AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1090T, MEMORY= 9 MB, VID CARD=RADEM 5770 1024, HD= 1TB
