    Hi,

this is in relationship to a thread happening last week. I posted this additional question on Sunday, but got no responses, perhaps the thread was too old at that point.

First of all, i’d like to make a formal apology for my original email being too confusing or misleading, particularly to David…..i see the wrongs of my ways. I hope i’m more clear in this posting….

and thank you all for your advice both for computer and video monitor displays.

I’ve done some research and need to ask a hair more bit of advice.

First, comparing the Dell 2408 with 2409, it seems the only difference is the connectivity with the 2408 offering more: a display port, component & composite video, s-video, and a 2nd dvi port at TWICE the price. What I’d like to know is how important would these additional connections be? i know it depends on what equipment one is using, what one plans on doing but is it really worth twice the price? I have been cutting mostly SD and finally now anticipate moving more to the HDV/HD world..will i need these? And since the 2408 has composite and component connections, is this a computer display monitor that could be used as a true video monitor? AND/or would the Matrox MXO or MXO2, i turn these dell computer flat screen displays into true video monitors? Or am i totally missing something here? Again forgive me for any ignorance here…

I guess i’m just trying to ask, if i can get the 2409 at half the price as the 2408 and the only difference is the connections, it seems a given to get the 2409. But again, i’m not sure what those additional connections would offer me.

thanks in advance for your reponses……..
