Hi, apologies if this is posted in the wrong place. I looked for a ‘compressor forum’ but couldn’t spot it. Back to work after a month away with a deadline of tues to get the final edit out in dvd form and compressor fails on all jobs, even the very short, simple ones. Compressing from .mov file as exported from FCP. I get the message ‘unknown time remaining’

on a mac octo with 8gb of ram.

can’t work it out, any ideas?

can some preferences etc be trashed or shall I reinstall compressor completely?

    thanks in advance
    John

A few months ago I had a similar thing happen to me where Compressor refused to work. I looked around the web and found this: https://www.scottsimmons.tv/blog/2008/01/11/compressor-hatred-resolved/

    It fixed the problem.

Are you trying to do a downconvert from HD to SD for the DVD burn?

Have you reinstalled compressor? If you do make sure you follow the apple article that was linked to by John Fishback.

    John,

Not sure if you are having the same weird issues that I did with Compressor a few weeks ago, but it was acting very strange for me. After some long frustrating evenings of trying to make it work, I finally remembered the old stand=by “trash the preferences.” I did that, restarted the machine and Compressor acted like it was my best friend once again. Hope that this helps or that you found another solution.
