  • Compressor unable to open XAVC files, even with pro formats installed?

Posted by Yar Lag on June 11, 2018 at 2:09 pm

I verified I have 2.0.6 pro video formats installed from the system information.

But when I open compressor, it still cannot import XAVC files. In my final cut pro (latest version), I can open the file. Why?

What version of Compressor? XAVC works just fine here and always has. Here’s a pic:

What camera was used to shoot this and what container is the file housed? MXF?

Yes, these files do not work in compressor (mp4 files from AVCHD).

You need setup a compressor setting in FCPX, and transcode that way, or import the AVCHD file in to FCPX which will rewrap the files to .mov, which you can then transcode in Compressor, or you can check out something like EditReady.

Adobe Media Encoder will also read them.
