I am exporting an HDV 1080i60 video from final cut. The video is 1920×1080 after export and looks fine until I bring it into Compressor then is gets stretched and looks awful. Compressor is telling me that it is still 1920×1080.

What is even more confusing is this only happens on certain videos. I have exported other 1080i60 sequences with the same settings without this problem. Any ideas on what could be going on?

HDV is not 1920×1080. It displays at that size but it’s really 1440×1080.

It would help to know what versions of software, OS, and QT you’re using and where you’re seeing exactly what it is you’re seeing.

    All the best,

I’m assuming that it displays 1920 due to pixel aspect ratio?

I am using Final Cut Pro 6.0.6 on OS X 10.6.1 my Quicktime version is 10.0 I’ll export the sequence as a quicktime movie, and everything looks fine there, but when I bring it into Compressor 3.0.5 then the video will look stretched in the preview.

QT X displays in corrected aspect ratio. The material is still 1440×1080. That’s the way it will appear in Compressor.

The problem I am having is in only in compressor and exporting from compressor. It is stretching the video to 2560X1080 (took a screen shot of compressor preview window at 100% and measured it in Photoshop).

This is before any settings are applied, just simply opening it in Compressor. Any compression setting that are applied use the stretched dimensions not the original 1440×1080

Are you exporting a sequence? I don’t think I can help you. I can’t reproduce this behavior in the current versions of the software.
