  • Compressor outputs to 640×480 instead of 720×480

This is probably something simple, but. . .
I’m trying to make a 720×480 Mpeg2 program stream file from a MOV that is 720×486. When I run the source through Compressor, the frame size in the inspector is dimmed, but it shows 720×480. The final movie, however, always comes out as a 640×480 size. I can’t find any other controls or information on how to “tell” it to make a 720×480 output file.
    Thanks for any insights.

[David Crews] “The final movie, however, always comes out as a 640×480 size”

Is this when you view it in Quicktime player?

Check the movie properties cmd-J (not just the ‘Information’ – cmd-I) – You should find that the movie is indeed 720×480, just being displayed at 640×480.

Oh, very interesting! I can’t find where to see the raster size in the Properties window in QT, but I pulled the final mpg2 file back into Compressor and it says it has encoded bounds of 720 x 480, and display bounds of 640 x 480.
Thanks for setting my mind at ease on this.
