We are seeing a problem with files made by Compressor 3.5.1.

    Mac OSX 10.6.2
    Compressor 3.5.1
    Source files are DVCProHD 720p
Destination files are Apple ProRes 422 HS 720X486

The video settings are enabled and Interlaced LowerFieldFirst is selected.

However the files that are created are Interlaced = None. Why?

If we cange the output file to a DVCPro50 it works properly and the file is interlaced.

So for now we must do a two step process:
Down Res to DVCPro50 SD interlaced and then reprocess into the Apple ProRes.

    Any suggestions?

It’s possible that the files are indeed interlaced but the metadata has not been changed to show this. There is an advanced Prores setting when exporting from QT that sets this.

    Hi Daniel

The meta data does say none for interlace.

But we are not using quicktime export, we are using compressor. The video setting in Compressor has a check box for Interlace and then a popup for Upper or Lower field first. This appears to not be working when the input file is DVCProHD 720p and the output is Apple ProRes 422 HQ Interlaced.

Please re-read my answer. I said that the file may in fact be interlaced correctly but that the Metadata had not been changed to show this.

I was simply pointing out that QT has a button that correctly updates the metadata, I kow you are not using it in this instance.

But we do not know if the file is interlaced correctly or not.

Is the button you refer to in Quick Time the Visual setting Deinterlace?

    Thanks
