Compressor changes?????
Posted by Delano Bryant on September 3, 2007 at 8:37 pmI need to use the new compressor. When i drag and drop my settings i want it to compress too. It says no destination set???? what gives? I have a destination set where I want it saved…
When I do get it to compress, it give me an error when it’s done saying markers could not be added???? I didn’t have any markers in my sequence?
Is that the color red you want to use?

September 3, 2007 at 9:21 pmYou have to drag and drop the destination on top of the other things you selected. Did you see the instructions I wrote for you last week to your Compressor question?

September 4, 2007 at 3:07 pmYes I did follow your settings from before. I keep getting errors messages saying that not all markers where included. I don’t have any markers in my timeline?
ANd when I upload the QT to the ftp, the client downloads it and it says the compression setting not correct.

September 4, 2007 at 3:42 pmI have no idea what the problem is with markers, are you exporting a QT reference file or self contained QT as I suggested before using Compressor? If so, unless you are specifically checking export with markers it should not contain any markers. Better check to see if thats checked.
And, as I recall, you asked about encoding the files necessary for a DVD, and all of the steps I suggested to you were basic functionality, about how to work with the new Compressor using the new drag and drop features. What type of QT are you uploading to the client that he says are not right?

September 4, 2007 at 3:51 pm800 mbps streaming QT. Let me ask you, I’m sorry if I am being redundant… Do I export from FCP too COMPRESSOR or QT using COmpressor? I’ve only been doing the direct to Compressor.

Aha!!! Thought so… You were not following my instructions. Although you have that option, my suggestion is to export a QT first from FCP using Export–Quicktime Movie. That creates a QT file that the absolute equal of what you have on your timeline, and it allows you to encode in Compressor in the background without tying up FCP.
You will have just two options when exporting this way, either making a “self contained” or a “reference” movie. the former allows you use that file at a later date when your media is offline, the later must reference the media. So, keep that in mind…
