Compressing Sony XDCAM to SD problems
Hi:
I’ve got Final Cut studio 2 and am trying to compress about 5 timelines, all footage shot in Sony XDCAM, to DVD SD fomat straight from the timeline. Everything worked great except for ONE TIMELINE. Every time I compress it, it pixalates horribly in two areas. Why would it do that? Here is what I’ve tried to do to resolve the problem:
1. I’ve rendered out the timeline as a XDCAM movie and then put that movie into compressor. Same problem happened.
2. I’ve rendered it out to an HDV movie and then put it into compressor. Same problem, pixelation in two areas.
3. And of course, I rendered it straight to compressor from timeline as well.
Does anyone have any idea of why it would do this only on one timeline when the other timelines rendered perfectly and are teh same type of footage. Thanks.

What’s happening in those 2 areas? What kind of filters, motion effects, etc do you have there?

The two clips are in Slow motion. Then were not filmed that way I did it in post by changing the frame rate.

And can you get a good encode if these clips are normal speed? If so, then try exporting just these clips, with the slow-mo, as XDCam. This will “bake” the slow-mo into them. then import them back into your project & replace the slow-mo in your timeline. If that doesn’t work, then try slowing them down in After Effects or Shake, & then importing them back into the project to replace the original clips.
