I have a shaky hand held shot of a 2 liter bottle being shot from the top of a 55 gallon drum. I’m trying to composite this over a photoshopped frame grab from the same video. I’ve got the shaky video in its own comp. I’ve run motion stabilizaton on the clip and then masked around the area I want to keep. The mask doesn’t seem to move with the motion tracking data, which I thought it would, but it still seems like it will work. Fortuneatly the footage is low a low res cap from a VHS video I shot in 1987, so I have a lot of leeway in the quality of my masking and alignment. Anyway, I then put the masked comp into the comp with my Photoshopped background plate, scale, lineup, color match, and blur for good measure. I’m relatively new to After Effects, so I have to believe there is a better quality, and more elegant solution.

    Thanks,
    Bill
