Sorry to ask this – I just spent a year using AE so forgot how to do it…

If I want to use a Bezier mask to allow a child track to show through the parent…and the bit of the parent I wish to ‘open’ is the black area inside a door…can I do it?

I know I could in AE, but seems like it has to be white to allow colors through.

    Tks!

A Bezier mask has nothing to do with color. It is a mask that is defined by it’s path. Inside the Pan/Crop tool is the Mask tool. Just draw the mask you want and then change the mode to negative so that what is inside the mask is cut out.

You are confusing masking with keying. Black and white are used in luminance keying where white is the presence of video and black is the absence of video and all gray values are varying degrees of opacity in between.
