composer monitor going black during playback
I took a project home from work, and tranfered them to my new system (two days old) Everything loaded fine, and when I load something in a seq, or play in the preview monitor, you hear audio, but the screen goes black. When you stop it however, the video is refreshed to the spot where you stopped it. I can see video when I scroll through the clip, or when I fast forward/rewind, but not during actual playback. Is there a setting that needs to be changed somewhere?

Try turning on all of the options under your IEEE 1394 preview settings dialog:
Edit-> Preferences-> Video Preview-> check “Previews” “Mirror on computer monitor” “Interactions” and “Renders”

Thanks so much for the quick reply. I’m usuing Express Pro 4.6 and I went to follow your direction, from edit, preferences, but I dont have video preview. Is there something different on this version?

Avid Express Pro 4.6? Looks like you may have posted to the wrong forum. I’m not sure how to change those settings in Avid.
