  • Complex multiple clip gradual scale up!

Ok, I have a very complex question, currently editing a bunch of 5 FRAMES clips all huddled up together to create a very fast montage effect. That is done, that is the easy part.

What I want to do is scale them up gradually with the use of key frames. So it ‘grows’ from the centre of the screen to the outer edges.

I do NOT need to scale them equally, I know how to do that (you copy and paste attributes), what I need is a GRADUAL INCREASE from 0 to 100 % scale across all of them. The amount of 5 FRAMES clips isn’t like 2 or 3, its about 70. just over ten seconds of 5 Frame clips, so it’s a lot to manually key frame each clip and do all the maths.

Anyways got any ideas, would very much appreciate it, its important. Thank you.

Ok, I actually just worked it out but I will write it here so it’s logged for future use for anyone else.

So you have your clips, highlight them all then go to. Sequence > Nest Items.

Your clips become one whole clip, now I don’t know fully its parameters but it almost functions like a regular clip, but more like a ghost. You can change its opaqueness of it quickly which is nice.

To use its Motion or Filters tab you can’t double click on it to open in the Viewer, instead you have to press Match Frame button (F) then it shows up in Viewer. Then for instance the problem I was having above, I key frame at start and end of mark in/out of clip from 0 to 100, then to see it, you have to insert/overwrite it onto the timeline as it isn’t realtime like a regular clip, instead you have to re-create a new replica of it with the new things you have done to it.

    Hope that makes sense.

You don’t need to matchframe and re-edit, just OPTION + Double click on the file in the timeline which loads it into the Viewer, then do your keyframing.

    If I get this correct,
Click on the clips, go to Motion tab on your Viewer. On the Scale option Insert a Keyframe by pressing the Round button and set a scale for that point (0 to 1000). Then set another point selecting the Keyframe and set another scale.
For Instance if you start with 10 at the first point and 90 at the end point, the clips will gradually increase the size of the clips. with this method you can also change the position, color and lot of other style of the clips.
    Thanks
