    Hello,

I recently starting recording my skype conversations using prorietary software from a company called Ecamm. The format of the footage is 1280 px x 480 px–one long rectangle that shows the footage side-by-side. Problem is, when I imported it in to AE it didn’t seem to be able to work with that ratio.

Any thoughts on how to make this work?

    Thanks,
    Rachel

can you describe the error or problem that you see in AE in more detail?

[Rachel Seed] “The format of the footage is 1280 px x 480 px–one long rectangle that shows the footage side-by-side. Problem is, when I imported it in to AE it didn’t seem to be able to work with that ratio.”

So the footage does import correctly, but you’re not sure how to use it?

In the Project panel (where the footage appears when you import it), you can drag and drop the footage onto the New Comp button () at the bottom of the panel. (Alternately, select the footage and choose File > New Composition from Selection.)

This will create a new comp with the exact same settings as the footage and automatically add the footage to the comp.

If the footage isn’t importing correctly, though, we’ll need more information — what version of AE you have, what OS you’re running, what codec the footage uses, etc.
