Hi everyone! I have a question for you that I could not find on the forum.

MOGRT are great for creating elements in After Effects that have a clear beginning and end: such as a lower third.

I would like to create assets as follows so that my client can use them in Premiere Pro without having to go into After Effects:

For example start with the interviewer’s video full screen, reduce the size so that a second window appears with the interviewee’s video and after a few seconds make a third window appear showing some static slides.

Would that be possible? Ideally with separate Elements so that the order can be changed (I can of course prepare all the different possibilities in Ae).

    Thank a lot in advance

If you are looking for a 2nd or 3rd window to appear at the same time the first video is playing for example, it is possible by creating multiple timelines for videos that can be put on top of each other so you can add also AE effects in video format so they can be resized to appear in a certain part of the screen to be seen. I used to literally had a window effect on my videos where the background of another effect is being display behind the window like you can see whats going on outside of the room you are in. Thats an example and not sure if its exactly what you are looking for but hope it helped in some ways.

Yep it’s all possible. Some tips:

When you create the mogrt in AE, use a static image as a placeholder, not video as this will make your mogrt size smaller. Add the images, animate them as if they were video, and then drag the image source layers into the essential graphics panel.

You should export the mogrt and test it in premiere pro yourself as there’s a couple of quirks with how Premiere Pro handles mogrts that have embedded video placeholders. I sometimes have added extra expression controls into the mogrt to help control the video placeholder.

Thanks a lot Hector and Tom! really appreciate your help and your advices.

Since you’ve been so kind, I will allow myself to show you the storyboard I had in mind (attached) and ask you some more questions, thank you very much in advance! I hope to be able to return the favour soon 🙂

Do you mean it is possible to create several timelines in after effects (with effects) and then simply replace the image with the video (of speaker 1 for example) in premiere?

Question 2: is it then possible to change the length of each part? e.g. if in the template I have 20 seconds with one speaker and 20 seconds with 3 speakers and the PPT take them to 50 seconds?

Question 3: this one is more complicated I think. Is there a way to leave the possibilities open to those who edit the video in Premiere? I mean that he can decide, for example, that a video already starts with 2 speakers and a PPT presentation rather than that there is several times the change from 1 to 2 speakers and vice versa? Or do I already need to define the storyline from beginning to end and eventually create several MOGRT?

I don’t know how to thank you for your valuable help, a big hug
