hi i am trying to make many layers from one inkblot art that has been scanned. there are about 8 different colours.
every time i select a colour i copy then create a new document and resize it to original document then paste the colour selection onto transparent background. the only problem is that certain selections do not paste into the new document in the exact place it was selected from. i know this since i want to use these seperate parts inside after effects and when viewing them usually one is slightly out of alignment from the rest. why is this? is there a better way of doing this?

I am assuming that you are using a PC

Select the color with the marquee tool or wand or lasso, right click and choose either “layer via copy” or “layer via cut”
