Hi folks, I’m nearly at the end of this huge animation I’ve been doing since February, and the last thing we need to do on FCP before finishing it all on Avid is the end credits sequence.

The reason for this last step on FCP is that it’s a bunch of post-it notes on screen, being ‘page turned’ on and off. The Page turn effect in FCP is actually very nice, and very tweakable – whereas the one in Avid sucks backside for what we’re looking for.

However, when I add the page turn effect to one of the title cards (tiffs with alpha for each one) it works great, then there’s a saturation and luminance jump when out of the effect, then pops back again when I add the effect to peel off the ‘post-it’.

I’ve tried adding a colour effect, or broadcast safe effect to the clips, just to the entire thing will render (as I’ve already ranted on here somewhere about coming in and out of rendered footage) and thought that might be the problem – but alas, no.

I can get a work out for this if I don’t have any part of the footage clean (ie, on a 2 second clip, the first second page turns in, the second back out – so it never sits still – but I think you’ll all agree, as people who like to see their own credit, that this isn’t reall acceptable.

as for the effect itself, it’s the standard one that comes with FCP (I think it lives in the Quicktime effect bin?) – the Boris one doesn’t do what I need it to (come in from off screen and then back off) so I can’t use that one…

If anyone can help, let me know what this happens, and how to stop/get around it – i’d really appreciate it.

(Uncompressed HD 1980 x 1080p Pal, Blackmagic, Final Cut 6.06 – see below for more).

    OOglies and upwards!

Make sure your tiffs are RGB instead of CMYK.
