Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy Colors not as rich when I export to QT

OK…did some more digging and here’s what I found.

As I mentioned in my last post my QT files are 1920 x 1080 once they go through log & Transfer BUT those are from my 5DMKII camera’s.

I checked my QT files that were converted from my AVC-50 1080i footage from my Panasonic and after going through LT (and yes in preferences I choose Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) when I open those in Quicktime and check the inspector for info, it says these clips are 1440 x 1080 actual 1088 x 1062.

So, I opened another FCP new project and imported and 5DMKII clip FIRST and sure enough the sequence changed to 1980 x 1080. I then imported the QT file from the panny and it dropped right in BUT is still 1440 x 1080. And of course all the panny clips are from my main camera with the talent in it where I’m getting most of the washed out look.

As I have said before all clips from all cameras look well saturated in the timeline.

So with this senario I exporting a new self contained .mov with sequence settings the washed out look is still there.

    Any suggestions?

The same. When I export my large self container .mov from FCP it’s washed out there. So when I bring it into Squeeze for my final web prep that file “of course” is the same.

I have to find a way to export my original QT .mov that is as good as in my time line.

However, I have found a work around even though it requires a couple of more time consuming steps. Once I export my complete QT from FCP, I then import it again into FCP in a new project apply 15% saturation, render and then export the entire file again. Then it’s fine.

The gamma within FCP is always a bit darker. The only way to actually see what it will look like while doing CC is to use a broadcast monitor.

    Your footage is not AVC-Intra (10b/HD), but plain DVCProHD: 1440 x 1080.
    That’s what you get.

Well I’m not sure why you say that. It is recorded in the camera as AVC-Intra 50 1080i. When I LT in FCP and choose the transfer preference it’s here it changes the the parameter.

So, I’m confused on your comment.
