What version of Colorista are you using? Should be 1.01

I would suggest that you repair your permissions, trash the pref for FCP, and if that doesn’t work, reinstall Colorista.

    For anyone still having crashes:

I too have been having problems with using Colorista with FCP v.6.0.5, apply Colorista to clip then the spinning beach-ball then FCP crashes. However I found a similar thread to this one on this blog:

    https://lfhd.blogspot.com/2009/05/lafcpug-colorista-demo.html

and someone suggested removing Colorista from the “Favorites” folder under the FCP “Effects” tab. Could it be that simple? Well I did it and it worked!

No rhyme or reason to it, all I know is I’m now working with Colorista in FCP again, crash-free. As someone posted on the blog, “Colorista doesn’t like being in the favorites folder…” YMMV, but give it a try and good luck!

I’m having the same problems as The Edit Doctor, when set the fields to none, the footage splits horizontally and the upper half colours are distorted when using colorista

If I set the fields to upper the splitting problem disappears but I get interlacing

Did you manage to fix the problem Edit Doctor?

    Cheers

    Question?

Do you have version 1.01 of Colorista?

If so, here’s a work around for you. Set your footage to interlaced. Put on a deinterlace filter, then use Colorista. It should work just fine after that.

The problem was in the graphics card. I had a g5 (POWER PC) with a 4+ year old card. Purchased a better card and the problem went away….

Now, I just have an intel model and I’m working…

I have final cut pro 7 and I just bought magic bullet colorista 1.0. When I open the colorista in the effects tab, only one color wheel shows in the viewer. Half of the gamma circle is visible too but the gain color wheel is hidden. Is this a glitch or am I overlooking something simple. Any help with this would be much appreciated.

Not sure if you ever found the answer, but it was doing the same thing to me this morning. You just have to grab one of the vertical separators near the top and drag over to the right to reveal the other wheels. I’m trying to get it to quit crashing FCP now…

This isn’t a bug or error at all. This is the way the plugin works. There is no way for to to entirely fit in the default widow sizing. You have to grab the filter tab and move it off your Viewer window to use it properly. This is all in the instructions that come with Colorista.

If this is a problem, you’re really not going to like Colorista 2.

I didn’t have to tear the tab off at all, just drag the Column divider over to view the entire plugin. I do want Colorista 2!
