    Hi,

This is my very first post to any sort of forum on the Internet. I shot a documentary with Canon XH A1 and the result of the entire footage is great. At the end I recorded an interview of the company’s chairperson indoor. When I downloaded the footage the result was horrible because of constant color change on the footage. Since it was our first documentary project we are not expert in lighting thats why we had a continues color changing footage. The saturation is keep changing on her face. I want entire footage to remain constant or stablized so that no body can feel the color changings. I tried color stablizing in AE but no luck.Even after plenty of color correction teachniques the footage is still changing the saturation levels. Please help me in this regard.

You have shot under fluorescent or high pressure luminaires that are being driven by power mains that are different from your frame rate. This happens when PAL people come to the States or you try to shoot a fast shutter speed that does not allow time for the flickering light source to be both on and off states for each open shutter.

Color Stabilization is your only hope besides learning how to use your equipment properly (hard lessons) and reshooting.

    Very interesting point David 🙂

Fahad, if automatic processes don’t do it by themselves, you’re gonna have to keyframe a saturation effect, or use expressions with a modulus if the color changes are cyclical…

Thank you guyz, because I had to find the solution I searched alot on the internet and finally found Tinderbox DeFlicker. Great plugin for AE. Simple settings and the result was perfect. After reading david’s reply I was planning for a reshot. But with the help of DeFlicker everything is constant now. No frame based settings, no segmented layers. Clean and simple.

There is also another great plugin called GBDeflicker which is ideal for timelapse footage. Though GBDeflicker didn’t work for me but still I belive a good plugin.

    Thanks again for the help.
