Hi, I am getting a luminance shift (blacks go darker) when playing uncompressed HD from FCP. My mac monitor is fine. It’s the monitor that I’m viewing that goes darker, so it’s something to do with the Kona 3 I’m guessing? HELP!!!!

Your problem is your workflow, not your Kona card.

That apple computer monitor has a gamma of 1.8- while professional video has a gamma of 2.2- so yes it will look darker on a real video monitor.

So, as I am about to do a clean install of Snow Leopard and FCS3, will a simple setting of gamma levels to 2.2 solve all of the gamma issues that I’ve been reading about on the forums? I just need to be sure (as usual) to use a well calibrated external monitor? Do I understand correctly that there are no Kona 3 issues that should encourage me to wait for a software update before putting the new system into real production?

    Thanks.
