  Color shift converting between ProRes and DNxHD

  I need to get my movie out of FCP and into Avid for finishing. However, I’m having trouble transcoding to or from DNxHD.

  I have Avid Codecs LE 1.8 installed on an Intel Mac running OS 10.5.2 with QT 7.4.1 (had the same problems with QT 7.3.1 installed). When I pick the target codec I select Avid DNxHD and then under Compressor I select 1080p/23.976 DNxHD 175 10-bit. First weird thing, although it comes back to that setting when I go to change it, in the summary it says 1080p/23.976 DNxHD 220 10-bit, which isn’t even an option presented. Then if I do try to use that setting, from QT Player I get black and from Compressor I get a bad color shift (looks like a bad gamma conversion).

  1) Any suggestions for how to get DNxHD working?
  2) Any suggestions for how I can get 1920x1080p/23.976 out of ProRes 422 HQ and into Avid DS?
