I’ve been doing more intense spot editing with more effects in FCPX lately and I’m generally enjoying the experience. In the latest build, I find it amazing how I’ve got all this increased effects and graphics power, with a lot of drag and drop ease, and have not needed to round-trip out to Motion for anything, really.

    But a nitpick:

One of the little tricks I use to make my graphics harmonize with the rest of the image on screen is to color my text using a sample color from something dominant in the frame. So I’m wanting to do that in FCPX and the eyedropper tool for the text generator lets me select from a small internal palette, but nothing from the actual image. That annoys me.

    Suggest a work-around?

If you click on the actual color square (not the down arrow) in FCPX you get the OS X palette, which has it’s own color picker. What’s nice about that is you can add it to the preset palettes as well.

That’s what I’m TALKING about! Sweet!

Thanks, this is a big help on a little problem.
