I need to do a Color Pass, but need to do more than one color. I want to save the color of a bridesmaids dress, and her flowers also. How would I go about saving more than one color, and is there any software that does a better job than in Vegas? I did it once before on a corsage, but as the groomsmen got closer to the camera the color fluttered between red and gray.

Graham Bernard posted a nice little tutorial in this post:

    2-3 Color

that will show you exactly how it’s done in Vegas. Extremely easy once you know how.

I have tried everything that was done in that video, and doesn’t work. The colors sure must have to be very very bright and vivid to work, because I have tried several versions of different tutorials on how to do this and nothing goes. I click on red flowers held by bridesmaid, and it picks up a very very small amount of the flowers. I didn’t get this to work last year either.

Steve, try the article titled Color Pass Reprised – Passing Multiple Colors in Vol. 2 Issue #10 of Edward Troxel’s newsletters.

Then you have to widen the color selection. Use the Show Mask option to help you. It’s not a one click process. You have to tweak the luminance, saturation, and hue parameters to get the selection you want.
