Posted by Jim Murphy on October 11, 2012 at 3:47 amI’m thinking about buying the upgrade, and wondering if anyone has tried the color match plug-in. Would like to hear some comments on it. Jim

October 11, 2012 at 8:34 amwhat kind of color matching you have on your mind?
i tried fbmn color match plugin – gives good results but finally i find built in secondary color corrector better. you can drop even few instances of it on an event, it really gives you a lot of freedom with separate limitting luma, hue and sat, i don’t feel there is anything better then built in solution as about matching/changing separate colors in a video… but of course people here may be better experienced in that area… let’s see if anybody…

October 11, 2012 at 2:00 pmThanks for responding. Mostly what I am interested in right now is having the three cams I use in a typical wedding ceremony look the same. Do you know of a good tutorial for using the secondary color corrector? Thanks, Jim

October 11, 2012 at 2:39 pmfirst of all match them before you shoot. if you need any adjustments later… hm… don’t know any tutorial but it is really simple. pick a color you want to change. set the mask on, adjust limitation to separate area to be changed, set the mask off and adjust the area as desired. use snapshot/clipboard view mode to have the most accurate comparison. that is all…

February 13, 2013 at 7:51 pmSlightly old topic but the Color Match plugin in VP 12 works wonderfully well for me. I recently brought a GH2 into the group of HMC150s that I use for events. I did do a little tweeking to get it close in camera but there were glaring differences in the final video and on the scopes.
Using the color match plugin got them in line WAY better than I expected. When in a semi lighting controlled environment like the reception or an indoor ceremony, it does brightness matching pretty well too. For outdoors, unless the cams have a very similar FOV, brightness is best tweaked manualy.
Bottom line is (For me) it saved me alot of time.
