  • Color Grading- Comparing Clips Side by Side?

Just noticed that Boris Final Effects (AE), has the ability to color grade by comparing clips or layers that are before, or after or on different layers in that stack. This seems like a great thing.

In FCP, are there ways to do this? Are there plugins that offer the same thing (color grade by comparing clips)? BCC 7 FxPlug has 3-way color correct, and talks about some comparison abilities, but they don’t define it like they do in the AE version presentation of features, so not sure.

Do other tools offer something similar? Colorista, Color, or other?

    Thanks for your help!

In FCP in the WINDOW menu, choose ARRANGE>COLOR CORRECTION.

YOu will then see the SCOPES on the far right. But, there is a TAB called the FRAME VIEWER…that allows you to see a split screen of one of MANY options. Current frame with filters side by side with w/o filters. The current frame an previous frames…all sorts of options. Look at the drop down menus.
