  color depth

  I’m having a “problem” with color depth. In AE CS3, I import a clip which is 8 bpc. I then click on the project panel and change it to 16 bpc. Then, I save a frame which I reopen in Photoshop CS2. When I check color depth there, it says 8 bpc and offers me the chance to once again change it to 16. So, am I changing the color depth in AE properly, not saving the frame properly, misunderstanding what Photoshop is telling me, or misunderstanding something else?? Thanks, Dale
