  • Color Corrections are darker and not accurate after rendering..?

Posted by Grant Wilber on April 2, 2012 at 2:01 pm

So this just started happening today. When I color correct a clip (using colorista) and render it, the image is alot darker and more saturated then what I’ve done to it. I tried trashing pref, and trashing render files. I try exporting and it still stays the same.

Not happening in other projects. The only thing I can think of is that its in H.264 codec as I didn’t convert to Pro Res as I usually do. Is this the problem? Is there anyway around these besides having to convert everything?

Then probably FCis rendering in RGB.
Have a look to the Sequence Setting and check “Render in 8b YUV”.

FCP doesn’t like working with H.264 footage. We say this every day. And you yourself normally convert to ProREs. So you know this. If you want to use FCP, you MUST convert to ProRes. If you want to edit H.264 native, use Premiere Pro.
