Hello! I’m looking for a little guidance on (what I believe) is a color correction issue.

In part of a shot, a wall in the foreground is rather hot in comparison to the rest of the action taking place in the scene. If I remember correctly, there was roughly a two stop difference between the action on the floor and the wall in question. I would like to rectify this problem, but am having some difficulty.

Is it possible using FCP’s filters, color correction or other, to specifically highlight this particular area, in order to bring down its overall level in relation to the rest of the shot?

For reference, I am using Final Cut Pro 5.1. Many thanks in advance.

    Hi Joshua,
You can also use the 4 point or eight point garbarge matte to add to a duplicated clip placed a layer above the current clip. Use the points to mask the bit you want to bring down a little and then apply filters to do so, usually the ‘3way CCorrector’. Use the feather and smoth sliders to smoth out the mask effect
    best wishes
