  • Color Correction is causing black squares on exported videos

Hello, I was hoping that someone has seen this and knows a way around this problem I’m having.

I’m using CS4.1 and I’m bringing in 1920×1080 AVCHD into a PAL Widescreen DVD project.

I’ve added the Three-Way Color Corrector to the sequence and everything looks fine in the preview window. I use an external encoder, so I’m trying to export the sequence out for encoding, but the exported file has tons of black squares.

Here are my 3-Way Settings… nothing crazy:

and here is my export settings in AME:

The only thing I can think of is that it’s a problem with the AVCHD and the plug-in. I’ve done a test and turned the 3-Way off, and the file exports clean. As you can see, the black squares are not there on any of the preview windows, and even a Dynamic Link into Encore previews without the black boxes.

Any help or advice would be great.

    Many thanks,
    Clint

I have had many problems exporting from Premiere CS4. Examples of this include exporting a 10 minute clip to an AVI and sections just being black where transitions take place or effects were yet as you say the preview looks just fine etc.

The one sure way of getting something out of CS4 seems to be to do an image export e.g. to PSD, and export the audio seperatly. If I have problems with normal exports that is what I always try as a last resort and it seems to work.

Maybe try exporting a small section which has those black boxes now to a PSD image sequence and let us know if you still have problems in the stills.

    Hi James,

Thanks for the reply, I’ll try the PSD export.

I finally just switched the Color Correction plugin from the 3-Way to one that comes with the Matrox RT.X2 card and it’s worked.

    Cheers,
    Clint

    Hi Clint,

The Matrox Color Corrector was going to be my suggestion, before I saw your reply. In the future, it may be helpful to post in the Matrox forum since you are using the RT.X2 and that brings it’s own unique problems and fixes to Premiere. Glad you got it going
