    Hi everyone.
I have been using premier for a month now moving from power director. I am making a video about my trip to CA. I shot for hours over 7 days in different lighting conditions and now i am cutting clips to make the final video. my questions is, what is the best (and hopefully fastest) way to color correct all the shots to make sure they match in terms of hue, saturation, contrast, etc.
i am planning to apply color grading at the end.
    thanks in advance.

Assuming that you already are familiar with color correction techniques in Adobe Premiere, you should somehow categorize your clips in you sequence so that clips with the same initial color are easy to select as a group.

Pick a clip to correct, and do so, making this your baseline for all future corrections.

Then, correct a representative clip from each group of similar clips to match the initial baseline clip.

Save each of these corrections as presets, which you can then apply to the rest of the clips in each group, tweaking each if needed.

If you aren’t up to speed on correction in Premiere, there are several VERY nice tutorials to be found here on the COW.

Thanks Steve for taking the time to answer. this is a great tip, which makes perfect sense. that said, I have found while researching this topic discussion on “color match” effect. apparently it came with CS4. not sure if CS6 has an alternative. another thing that i found was a method called shot-to-shot matching, usually tied with working with FCP, not sure how it works either. could either help me with what i am trying to achieve? where could i find more info since i found very little.

    thanks again.

I’m pretty sure the ‘Color Match’ effect was killed in CS5. I’d never had very much success with it, certainly not as much as I’d had with Avid Media Composer prior to switching to Premiere Pro.

However, there are 3rd party plugins that do offer a color match workflow – Colorista and Boris FX are two that come to mind.
