    Hello:
I had several problems trying to get a “clean” Chroma Key from a video footage in After Effects. My client took the video footage of the actor in front of a green screen to be color corrected before doing the chroma key. I don’t know what software the colorist used to eliminate the tiny green spills on the actor’s skin. I finally got a video file with the actor (shot in front of the green screen ) in alpha channel and I was surprised to see that even the hair had a very clean alpha as a result of the color correction to eliminate the green in order to do the chroma key.
I honestly don’t know what the colorist did, but I just couldn’t even get closer to that in After Effects (using key light).
Any advice on what the workflow would be after I shoot the video with the green screen?
    Thanks.

For starters, what format are you recording when you shoot? This makes a HUGE difference in the ability to perform a chroma key…

It’s possible to create a ProRes 4444 file which carries alpha in FCP 7 FWIW.
