Color Correcting for SD and HD
Creative Cow users,
This may be a basic question but we are working in SD and getting good results with our color correction on SD televisions. When our finished DVD’s are played on HD tv’s the color gets changed drastically, though. Whites especially are very bright.
What’s the best way to handle this? We have a SD color correction monitor. Is it important to get an HD one as well? What’s the best way to find a balance between the two output types in tems of color?

You need a good DVD player that will upconvert the footage to HD properly. BluRay players do this well, As do the now obsolete HD DVD players. Not every DVD player/TV does this right. IN fact, most don’t.

We’re playing on a Blu-Ray and getting the different colors. Everything is super saturated and contrasty. I don’t think it’s the TV settings…
