  • Color Correct a NTSC monitor

I did a no-no and messed with the Background and gain on my NTSC monitor and have the colors off. I’ve got the blue screen dialed up just right and have set it according to the pluge but I need to get the White and Black balance corrected right. Any body have any suggestions

The only proper method to set up the gain and bias controls is with a gray scale step test pattern display.

You will need either a test pattern generator or other device to output the pattern.

In a pinch you could use bars and dial out all the chroma to get as close to a black and white image and then adjust gain and bias to null out the bars display.

In other words you do not want to have any color bias red, green, or blue.

Dial up the chroma on bars and then take a look at a neutral subject to see if you still have any color bias in the whites or lower to mid grays.
