Color Bleeding
Posted by Debbie King on December 3, 2013 at 12:43 pmHi Everyone:
I am trying to do a color correction on a clip of two people. The colors of their clothes are bleeding into each other. In other words, one is wearing gray and the other purple. The gray is bleeding into the purple and the purple into the gray, and it’s grainy. When I color match from another clip, it comes out better, but the bleeding still appears. Does anyone know how to color correct in a situation like this?

December 3, 2013 at 9:32 pmDebbie? I’ve read and re-read your Post. This is truly difficult. You;d need to be using a set of tools that “film” restorer use. John Meyer is an absolute master at doing this type of work. What he does is astounding. Unless your sample is reduced so much in size that all I’m seeing is/are coloured pixels, to be honest, I think this is way beyond the scope and abilities of Vegas.
I tried an initial Levels adjustment and applied Neat Video to smooth some of those blocked pixels.
Sorry

Thank you so much. I figured that I would need to go beyond Vegas for this problem. How did it look when you tried Neat Video?

Thank you for the advise. I purchased Neat Video today, and I smoothed it out some. It looks much better.
Thank you so much.

December 5, 2013 at 8:49 amYou’re welcome.
Tip on NV – a LITTLE goes a long way. If I do too much, then I get that over cosmetic “pancake-look”. Now, some “talent” may like this! I use it for low light that is over-grained, skies that refuse to behave themselves and some of my more adventurous colour corrections that are, well, too “enthusiastic”?!
Do make your presents felt on the NV Forum, you’ll find even more tips there. NV and Vegas have had a challenging partnership in the past, but now that more and more people are using Vegas and are getting into more Shoot n Cut projects, NeatVideo is one of those clean-up opportunities that just wasn’t around or available to low-budgeters 10 years ago. IMO, you’ve made a very wise purchase. And no, I don’t have anything to do with the company.
Grazie
