    Hi,
Can anyone explain this to me.

I have a 3d comp within which are other 3d comps (moving trees amoungst others) , the moving trees behave as expected when the colapse tranformations button and the 3d button is pressed, as expected.
Good, but when I put the whole comp into the final compostion the trees act weird and move position. They are closest to how they should look when neither CT or 3d buttons are pressed and all over the place when one or the other or both is pressed. There are no cameras involved. I tried precomposing the layer first but still oddness. I solved it by prerendering the comp but i dont understand what was going on , so if anyone can tell me why or a link to an explanation ……

    thank you
    c

Actually your not using cameras is most likely the source of this odd behavior. From my experience AE somehow seems to treat values differently internally – it will limit its ranges to what’s visible in the frustrum, making calculations more precise whereas without a camera it will always assume infinite space. Can’t explain it other than that, but cameras do (seem to) matter. ;O)

    Thanks for your help.
I will bear it in mind in future.
adding a camera seems to significantly increase render times, and as i wasnt using one for movment i supposed it wasnt necesary.
    But……………….

    thanks
