I have an AVI that will not import into Premiere CS5. It uses the following codec H.264 and the name is H.264/MPEG-4 AVC. (as per GSpot) Besides converting it to a standard AVI that Premiere will rocognize, is there any way to add something to premiere so it can import it. The files I’ll be using will be pretty substantial in size and I don’t want to have to spend the time converting them. If I have to I have to. Let me know if I need to provide any further information.

    Thanks

When you say that it won’t import, what do you mean? What happens?

I get an error message saying that Premiere does not recognize the format or the file may be damaged.

Success!!!! After slowing down a bit and actually reading the manuals I found that a seperate conveter is included and you can do uncompressed avi. I also found a nice converter from Womble multimedia that can handle the native .rec4 files from the DVR and give you MPEG2 files.
