Codec not found? HDV capture not working???
Posted by Rob Sankey on March 1, 2006 at 8:57 pmI have been editing HDV material for months now and just today I received this error message when trying to digitize.
“Codec not found. You may be using a compression type without the corresponding hardware card.”
I’m using FCP 5.0.4, OSX 10.4.5, G5 Dual Processor 2.7Please help!

March 2, 2006 at 12:31 amUmmm when u open a HDV clip in fcp is it blank ie just white? I had that same problem a few months ago and had to put back some QT codecs that dissapeared back into the machine and it fixed it.. I’ll send them to u if need be. Hope it is a similar problem cause that is an easy fix. Hope that helps.

March 2, 2006 at 1:43 amThe screen isn’t exactly white, when I click on an HDV clip to view it in the browser nothing happens, just the error message that is. I’ve done some google searches on downloading the codec, but no luck. Can you send me a link or something?
Thanks very much!

March 2, 2006 at 2:49 amOk, check in your macos Library>Quicktime> if your missing files like: AppleHDVCodec.component or anything HD drop me an email and i’ll send u them they’re very small. Can’t guarantee its going to fix your problem but it surely fixed mine. you may have to reinstall…
