So I got this error for a while, read up on it, and decided to do a clean install.

    error.

“Codec not found. You may be using a compression type without the corresponding hardware card.”

I installed everything from scratch. I totally refortmated a brand new hard drive and did a clean install of my OS to 10.6.3 and Did a complete re-install of FCP Studio.

Nothing was left from my old drive, everything is installed brand new.

how can I still be getting this error?

    FCP 7.0.2
    OS X 10.6.3
    AJA KONA 3 8.0

i have seen this happen when i tried to import a Prores4444 graphic i had created using a non-standard frame size.

When exporting the graphic from After Effects, I had changed the default sizes to suit my project, but the Kona card (i think) doesn’t like it when you do that so it throws the error up when its asked to figure out what the file is.
