Codec not Found – import IMX MPEG file
Hi there,
I have a number of Quicktime files from my work (Broadcast company) that I need to edit at home on FCP.
The Macs at work must be all set up for these files (IMX PAL 30 Mbps) as they import them no problem, but when I try to do the same on my Mac at home, they don’t work!I can play them through Quicktime, but once I’ve imported them into my FCP project, and try to open them I get the error message “Codec not found. You may be using a compression type without the corresponding hardware card”
After reading other forums, I’ve tried downloading Calibrated MXF to no avail, I’ve tried changing FCP’s settings, but to be honest I don’t really know what I’m doing.
I’ve also exported them out again as a DV file through MPEG Streamclip but I really need the same resolution as IMX for Broadcast.
Please help!

What version of FCP are you using at home? IMX support was introduced with FCP 5.1.2
If you are using FCP5.1.2 or greater then I would caution against using the Calibrated Software IMX Decode component as it will directly conflict with the built in support. -
I’m using FCP 6.0.5 (part of Studio 2 bundle). Have uninstalled and deleted Calibrated (didn’t think it was doing much anyway).
I know that IMX PAL etc is an option that you can select in Easy Setup, but it doesn’t change anything – still get the same error message when trying to play the imported file. -
Is it possible they were exported from an Avid which has its own Quicktime IMX codec?

Yes it is…so on that note I copy and pasted all the Quicktime components from the Mac’s Library at work (which included some AVID components), but still this doesn’t work…
