  • “Codec not found.” Error message when attempting to capture.

Posted by Lucas Howe on April 3, 2007 at 4:05 am

I have a PowerMac G5 running an older Final Cut Pro HD (4.5).
Don’t want to upgrade as I rarely use it.

Tonight I am attempting to digitize from a DVCPRO SD (not HD) AJ-SD93P.
    It is connected via Firewire.

I have my device control set on FireWire NTSC (I also experimented switching to
    Basic).

My capture/input is set to: DV NTSC 48 kHz Anamorphic.
(I also experiment switching to all of the SD options on the pulldown menu)

I keep cutting out when I attempt to capture with this message:
“Codec not found. You may be using a compression type without the corresponding hardware card.”

I know any and all codecs should be there as I have captured from this format in the past.

Any ideas? I am going nuts and it is getting late!!

    Please help!

    Thanks in advance.

Is the tape DVCPro 25 or DVCPro50? The DV preset you are using is for 25. If the tape is 50 then select the suitable codec.

Try setting DVCPro NTSC. No DV NTSC. No DVCPro50NTSC.
