Codec not found.
All of the sudden when trying to render my timeline I’m getting the message Codec not found, you may be using a compression type without corresponding hardware codec.
Everything has been working well until now. It also rendered the first 4 minutes of my sequence with no problem. Any thoughts?

If you get a CODEC NOT FOUND missing hardware check ALL your images in Photoshop and make sure there are in a RGB color space NOT CYMK, LAB, OR GREYSCALE

Might post what codec you’re attempting to use? What are your clip’s properties and what are your sequence settings?

This is based on the post below where I’m following Rafael’s and Andrew’s advice on taking an HD EX1 timeline and Create a new sequence, Apple Prorez 422 NTSC open the sequence settings and check the 16:9 anamorphic box. then drop the HD EX-1 timeline into the SD Sequence.
This whole project has been edited rendered and output to DVD. The quality was not great. That’s why I’m trying Rafael’s and Andrew’s advice.
FYI all photos worked fine in the original HD timeline, so I don’t think it’s a photo issue.. The original footage is 1920 X1080i shot at ex1 1080i60.
Right now it’s rendered 10% and seems to be working (knock on wood)
Also it’s saying the estimated time is 3 hours to render the SD sequence which is 17 minutes long. Does this seem realistic?

after 12% completed the same codec not found warning appeared. I had followed Rafael’s advice and saved the project with a new name and restarted.

Hi Greg,
3 hours rendering for 17 minutes movie can be normal. Depends of your Mac.
If you see that the render aborts always in the same moment, you my have something in your time-line causing the problem.

It happens in various points in the time line. It renders fine in a DV sequence. But I’m worried about the quality out of a DV sequence to DVD. Thoughts? It seems like the problem is related to Pro res.

Rafael I really appreciate all of your help. Can you tell me why all of my titles and graphics created in livetype are blown up too large when copying to the SD timeline? Why wouldn’t they have transferred the same way as my video image?
Also the sequence settings I’m using are:
Frame Size 720X486 CCIR 601 NTSC (40:27
Pixel aspect Ratio NTSC-CCIR 601/DV Anamorphic
Field Dominance Lower (even)Compressor: Apple Pro Res 422
Does that all sound right?

It turns out that multiple still images are the culprit. However they are all in a RGB color space.
Is there a way to fix this so I don’t have to create moves on each one again? I’d like to just drag the the EX1 sequence to an SD sequence and render. -
Hi Greg,
If you are coping the graphics from another sequence, you need to “Remove Attributes” from those graphics. Try removing “Basic Motion” and “Distort”.
Why you made your sequence 720×486 instead of 720×480?
